Ron Jon Cocoa Beach Shuttle

Cocoa Beach

Port Canaveral, FL

We have done this Royal Caribbean “excursion” twice now. It is a shuttle that takes you from the ship to the bus parking lot of the Ron Jon Surf Shop. The tickets have a departure time on them from the ship, with several morning times to choose from. Make sure you bring towels with you.

The bus was waiting when we got off the ship. After about a 20-minute ride it drops you in the bus parking lot near Ron Jon’s Surf Shop. Cross through the parking lot to get to the surf shop. Before getting off the bus, ensure you know when the last shuttle departs the parking lot back to the ship.

It is a short 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach – just ask the shuttle bus driver which way to go or follow your bus mates. The beach has several restaurants nearby for lunch – you can find them along the street where you were dropped off or along the beach near the pier. You pass a 7-Eleven en route to the beach, which is a great place to pick up snacks for your beach day. The beach has sand, waves, and a rental shack for chairs, umbrella, and sand toys. We usually just sit on our towels and relax. The kids dig in the sand and jump in the waves.

Generally we are on one of the last shuttles back as we want to maximize our beach time. There has been a bit of a wait for the shuttle return, but they run pretty continuously. We have always have an enjoyable day.

We booked this as a relatively cheap excursion for a beach day on our first cruise. Next time, I think that we will take a Lyft or Uber to the beach. We will just have to keep an eye on the time to ensure that we can get back to the ship on time.
