Cruise Pack List
My family has been on a few cruises now, but I have a pack list to ensure that all we have everything we need. I help the kids pack their items. My husband and I pack our own clothings/supplies. Once my husband did forget to pack t-shirts – he only had shirts for dinner, the t-shirt he wore on our flight to the cruise, and sun shirts. It turned out OK, but better to have a list (can you tell I am Type-A personality?).
Clothing & Personal Care
- Shirts
- Shorts / Pants
- Underwear
- Socks
- Pajamas
- Dinner wear
- Long Pants / Jeans / Sweatpants (at least 1)
- We have been to warm weather locations where we were cold after a rain shower and wish we brought pants along
- Long Sleeve Shirt (at least 1)
- We have been to warm weather locations where we were cold after a rain shower and wish we had long shirts to put on
- Sweatshirt or Jacket
- Swimwear (2 pair)
- Alternate the swimwear so you don’t need to put on a wet suit
- Toiletries
- Including toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, hairbrush, etc.
Documents
- Passport or Birth Certificates (dependent upon destination)
- Driver’s License
- Travel Confirmation #s
Electronics
- Phones / Tablets / Other Devices
- Charging cables for above
- Converter, if traveling internationally
- Bluetooth Speaker
- For listening to music on the beach
- Waterproof Phone Cases
- We use these to keep our phones dry at the beach or pool
- The Pelican one linked above is easier to open/close than the ziplock type.
- Camera / GoPro
- I tend to take pictures with my phone. My youngest uses my old camera with a waterproof case. The oldest prefers the GoPro. Take your pick, but definely bring something to grab a few photos or videos.
Beach Items
- Beach Bag
- I carry a big soft sided one to stuff all of our towels and sunscreen into.
- Sunscreen / Aloe
- This can be pricey on ship or at your destination
- Sunglasses
- Hat
- Flip Flops
- Swim goggles
- For the pool or beach
- Snorkel gear
- I do not like to share my mask or snorkel with anyone. We bring our own gear if we are snorkeling. All the snorkel tours I have been on include the gear as part of the tour, so this is optional.
Medical
I tend to bring a small medical kit with me when we travel. It can be expensive to buy medication on ship or find a pharmacy while traveling.
- Prescription Medicines
- Pain Relievers – Ibuprofen & Tylenol
- Tums / Rolaids / Pepto Bismol
- Immodium
- Band Aids & Neosporin
- Dramamine for Motion Sickness
- Children’s Chewable versions of the above
- Children’s Ibuprofin
- Children’s Tylenol
- Pepto Bismol Kids
- Dramamine for Kids
Cruise Specific Items
- Lanyards
- We keep the kids cruise cards on a lanyard so they do not get lost. I do not like having to wait in line at Guest Services to get a new card.
- The lanyard linked above has a clear pouch to put the card in, but we also have a regular lanyard with just a hook at the end. Guest Services can punch a hole in your card to use this type of lanyard
- Magnet Hooks
- We use these on our cabin walls to provide extra hanging space. They are strong enough to hold swim trunk while drying or hang up other small item.
- Cruise Luggage Tags
- Since we flew to the port for our last cruise, I bought cruise luggage tags. When we drive to port I have just stapled the paper tags provided by the cruiseline to our bags. There was no need to worry about them tearing off during transport. This time, I pre-loaded one cruise luggage tag per bag at home. Then I attached the tags to our bags at the hotel before heading to the port.
- Magnets to decorate our door
- Cruise Ducks
- We bring a few along to hide on the cruise. The kids tend to find more than we find. Searching for ducks aboard the ship is on of their favorite activities and gets mom & dad extra walks every day.
- Games
- Uno, Phase 10, Quix, Sleeping Queens, etc.
- We pack games to play as a family on Sea Days. We try to pick easy to pack card or dice games.
- Books
- Coozies for canned drinks (beer)
